I must admit that those virtual teller machines came in handy today; I was able to get my banking business done during a blizzard when there weren't any actual employees physically in the building. So - great to have the option, but please don't use these machines as a reason to lay off employees or to force customers to use the machine when there is a real employee available to help.

Hello Yolanda! Thank you for your review! When you use one of the kiosks, you will see that they are not robots, but employees of Rivermark that are just at another location. Having the kiosks allows us to assist our members from 8-8 M-F and 10-6 on Saturday. Please try using the kiosk next time you are in the branch and let us know what you think! Have a great day and welcome to Rivermark! ~Janet B
Sep 10, 2018Previous reviewThe bank seems to be all into being as high-tech as possible. They want customers to interact with the virtual tellers in the kiosks instead of with the humans that work there. This is a good thing if you're anti-social. It's not good for privacy though; everyone in the room can hear you talking to your kiosk.
I was lucky to be helped by an actual human, since I came to open an account. The woman I interacted with was friendly, and I like that I didn't have to make an appointment to open an account, unlike at other banks (like Chase). I also like that I got my debit card the same day that I opened my account. The bank offers you free coffee/tea on the counter, and there's a computer in the wall for kids to play with while they wait for their parents to do their business. I gave the bank 4 stars because my experience was positive, but I am not a fan of taking jobs away from humans and giving them to unsustainable robots.
Edit: Yes, there are real humans in the kiosk screens, but what sense does it make to talk to a human inside a machine when you can talk to a human physically in the building? These machines eat up electricity, and dirty fossil fuels are polluting the planet to keep them on. The mountains of Appalachia are being leveled for unnecessary electronic devices like these kiosks. - David S.Beaverton, OR1544May 14, 2018
Stop the new kiosk way of doing banking. I wonder what brainy penny pinching bookkeeper with his butt shaped like a chair thought of this Way to tank a business?
I will not be using, depositing or doing any business with Rivermark until this stops.
It shows a total disregard for your customers to make us do all the work. Greedy way of treating us.
Tellers are bored since they have to stand a tiny desk all day trying to show disgruntled people how to use this stupid setup.and you can tell they hate the place too.
I told them "Nope not doing a kiosk, was going to deposit $2400.00, I'm keeping my money" turned to leave and he said "OK, goodbye". Now I am saying goodbye for good. Call me gone for good until this stops.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

*** This is about opening an account online ***
Rivermark was offering 100$ to open an account so I wanted to take them up on it. I prefer to open an account online for a myriad of reasons and they do offer that.
The big difference with Rivermark than I have seen with any other bank at this point is they require you to upload a picture of your ID. This is a process I am not a fan of because, to me, it opens up another option for identity thieves. Maybe not through their system but I have to take a picture and in this case email it to myself to upload it from my PC.
After doing all that and the rest of their lengthy steps, it says there's a problem and I have to call a number. I call and the woman tells me the system cannot verify my ID, social security number or some other part of the information I gave. She said I will have to go into a branch to open an account. What was the point of all that? I just uploaded and gave all my personal information only for nothing to happen??
I am going to guess it is my address. My home is brand new but built about a year ago. My address comes up in Google and has been found when doing business with literally every other company. Rivermark must use Mapquest or something because they are the only one who cannot find me. Other banks I have signed up with online have found my address.
They don't have as many branches as OnPoint so trying to make time to drive in to see them is much more of a hassle than even 100$ may be worth. Be weary of a company that makes you give all your personal information only to force you to come in. Already lost a lot of points with me before I ever became a member.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0Business owner information

Hi Paul! Thanks for sharing your experience! Opening accounts online is certainly a convenience and Rivermark supports this. Submitting photo ID is a required step but may be completed offline after the fact as an option. Once you submit your information, processes to match your submission with validation sources are used beyond your physical address. If your information can't be verified then an in-person visit to a branch that is convenient for you is required. We would be happy to reach out by phone if you'd like to respond offline, to protect your privacy. You may reach us at 800.452.8502.
Thanks again for considering Rivermark Community Credit Union. Have a great day! - Rate S.Portland, OR729038Nov 27, 2018
Went to open an account and was really surprised of how cool and modern this branch is.
From being greeted by nice people up front, to seeing the modern technology being employed at the live atm teller machines, I felt like this was finally a Credit Union for me.
I've been with ONPOINT for about 10 years and after having multiple issues with online access and their non working or buggy mobile app, it is time for a change.
Rivermark's rate are lower by a full percent than Onpoints on Credit cards, plus you get rewards on even basic checking. I read the 2 star reviews already posted and just don't get their reviews.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - James M.Saint Helens, OR01Aug 18, 2020
Looking for a credit union that can handle all your needs? Look no further than Rivermark, they have all that you can ask for. I'm treated like a valued customer every time I'm in contact with them, and their online banking is always on.

The auto loan experience was below mediocre (and I'm being generous), but the customer service and branch experience is where it hit me the most. The moment they have you locked in, they're done with their "genuine" style to help you. I understand rules and regulations, so I don't mind keeping up with those. The dissatisfaction I have is solely on how they treat current customers. Very much less than ideal.
I can't speak about their savings or checking accounts, but the auto loan wasn't a pleasant experience. They did have a few reps that were helpful at times, but the overall experience left a bad taste in my mouth for ever wanting to do business with them moving forward. And auto loan recommendation is a definite no, based on my lone experience.Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0 - Scott W.Beaverton, OR08Feb 14, 2021Updated review

Hello Scott! Thank you for updating your review from 2016 so I would get a notification of your post, as it was missed when you first posted it. Sometimes bills can stick together and I have also seen banking errors done in the member's favor, but once a till is balanced at the end of the day it will be corrected. I'm glad they were able to correct that for you while you were in the branch so you didn't have to worry about it later! For the application fee, I have been with Rivermark for over 5 years now, and I have not been aware of any application fee for a loan. Was your application in 2016? According to your original review, it looks like you closed out your membership at least four years ago, so I'm not sure if we would still have your application information, but you can always reach out to us to investigate if you like for a refund of the 25 dollars. We are available by phone M-F 8-8 SAT 10-6 at 503-626-6600 option 2, option 4. Thank you! ~Janet B
Dec 28, 2016Previous reviewTwo things, but first I will say I always love credit unions vs BIG banks.
First: a teller at G.P. Rivermark does not know how to count. I gave her 7 (seven) $100 bills to deposit. She only deposited 6 (six ! ). I am SOOOOO glad I check the deposit slip immediately as I must have sensed something was wrong. I immediately told the teller and asked to see a manager. She said she would count her till as she did not want to get the managers attention. She immediately found the "missing" $100 and deposited into my account. possible honest mistake you say? How about a mistake GIVING me an extra $100 dollars? That never seems to happen. Strike ONE!
Secondly: The mortgage loan department asked for a mountain of documents to apply for a loan. I provided them with all the documents AND a $25 dollar fee only for them to tell me they are not authorized to give a "commercial" loan. They should find out what a person wants BEFORE they waste valuable time providing time consuming documents. Strike TWO!
They did not refund my $25 for their mistake of taking a full application for a loan they can not provide instead of seeing what a person wants BEFORE wasting their time. Strike THREE. I closed my account and do NOT miss them.
Always give credit unions a chance before going to the BIG banks. But if they mess up and waste your time or can't count to seven them drop them.
Sincerely,
Scott - Mike C.Brookings, OR19232Mar 30, 2016
Well, I have been trying to contact their custom service for days.. Finally, I had to go there to talk to someone. Looked for the branch manager - not available. They told me I was lucky because most customers have to wait an hour.
Unbelievable. I have been a member of credit union for a long time. New got treated that was. I do no think the employees care.
So at the end of the day, they couldn't access my account either. That is crazy. You would thing they would have tested their own system before releasing it and make customers change over. I'm probably gonna just close the account.
I'm sad to leave negative review. Just wish the employees here would have some compassion and not tell me I'm lucky. WTF?Helpful 2Thanks 0Love this 1Oh no 0 - Lori O.Moreno Valley, CA0501Oct 13, 2018
As another reviewer stated, if I could give them six stars I would. I purchased a car today. Things didn't go as planned and I was down to the nitty gritty at around 5:00 p.m. The credit union closes at 5. But Chris Crouch and Justin Taal stayed late to facilitate my purchase. They were so friendly and helpful in funding my car loan. After a frustrating day of dealing with dealerships, my dealings with Rivermark were perfection. Fabulous communication with friendly, accurate people. Thank you Chris and Justin. Rivermark, you've got some great people working for you. You are the BEST.

I was pretty impressed with the latest upgrades to Rivermark's online banking services. I thought the alerts they offered were a nice feature and I appreciate the alert when a large deposit is made to my account. But...I HATE getting a reminder every single morning that I have a $0.00 payment due to my Visa account. The "payment" was due three days ago and I continue to get the alert that I owe them $0.00. What do I have to do to stop the alerts? Make a payment of $0.00?
I called Rivermark to find out why I would get an alert when there is a $0.00 balance and was told It is because I set up the alert. The only options I can find is to turn on an alert 5 days before payment is due and when it is past due.
I would have liked an alert, if I had a bill that might go past due and my credit would be adversely affected but apparently my only option is to turn off the alert. I hope Rivermark got kissed when they purchased this software package because they and their customers got screwed! I think it is time to shop for a new credit union.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0
